| | Fitel plans to set up 52 base stations first in Taipei City and 380 base stations in the area of Hsinchu in 2008 and then additional base stations in other areas of northern Taiwan in 2009-2010, part of the cost to be covered by an M-Taiwan subsidy, the company pointed out. Fitel plans to kick off WiMAX operations first in Taipei and Hsinchu.
WiMAX Telecom is not participating in Taiwans M-Taiwan project but Vibo Telecom, a shareholder of WiMAX Telecom, receives a subsidy from it. WiMAX Telecom plans to utilize a portion of Vibos WiMAX infrastructure to minimize investment, the company indicated. In addition, WiMAX Telecom may select an equipment supplier from Vibos M-Taiwan project if the equipment performs well, the company pointed out. | | |
