Advanced Optoelectronic Technology (AOT), a Taiwan-based SMD LED maker, announced a cross-licensing agreement for white SMD LEDs with US-based Intematix today. Under the agreement, AOT can manufacture white LEDs based on Intematix-patented technology, by which a blue InGaN (indium gallium nitride) LED is combined with a suitable fluorescent converter.
Everlight Electronics, Lite-On Technology and Harvatek obtained their patent rights for white LEDs from German Osram Opto Semiconductors.
Strong orders from South Korea-based handset makers helped AOT reach revenues of NT$2.07 billion last year, up 138.75% on year, according to the company. | | |
